It's Been A While

Well, it's been a year and three months since I last posted on here and there's been many changes since then. Where should I begin?

For starters, I've become engaged! I know, crazy eh? Well, I've been with Margarita for almost eight years and we've been living together for four...It's amazing how time flies by.

Secondly, I've stopped playing competitive goalball. It's sad but I've developed arthritis in my foot (from a break that I received when I was eight years old) and it's too difficult to say whether or not I could compete at tournaments. However, there is good news, I am now the assistant coach for the Ottawa Women's team. I'm very excited about this.

Lastly, I lost twenty five pounds this year. I was running, walking and biking through out the spring and summer and because of this, I lost all that weight. Unfortunately, about a month ago I hyper extended my knee (it got better) but then I hurt my Achilles tendon and I haven't been able to do much in the way of running and stuff so I've actually started gaining some of the weight back. I'd would like to get down to around 170 lbs before my wedding, which is next August.

Well, that's most of the exciting news that I have, don't forget to go to www.paranordicskier.blogspot.com or click on Margarita's name to check out her new blog. It's all about her skiing (training and competitions).

Weekend Alone...YEAH!!!

Well, my girlfriend is gone to a training camp this weekend, so the obvious thing is...GUYS WEEKEND!!!

Friday night was alright, J-MAN and I went to the train station with my girlfriend, then we hung out playing WII and ordered pizza. It was awesome, I won at tennis, bowing but he beat me at boxing. He left around 10:30.

After J-MAN left, I watched the Olympics until like 3:30 and then I went to bed.

On Saturday, I woke up at 10:00 and I could barely walk because my foot was in so much pain. Stupid foot (hopefully tomorrow the podiatrist can tell me something). So I ended up staying on the couch all day, just watching the Olympics, playing 360 and icing my foot. All my buddies had plans so they didn't come over or anything...it was really boring.

Today, my foot is a bit better but by the looks of things my buddies are busy again and my foot still hurts (so I can't go out) so, my day will be filled with the same stuff as yesterday but hey, my girlfriend comes back home tonight so, I have something to look forward to (no I don't mean that...get your mind out of the gutter).

I promise that these will get more interesting, funny and with less complaining.

Goalball Practice

Well, today I went and helped some of the players on the Canadian Goalball team with their practice. I think that it went pretty well. They did some offensive and defensive drills...the practice was only 1 hour long so they couldn't really do too much. I got in on some of the action too. They let me do a 2 man drill and I did pretty well on the defense part but when it came to offense, I only hit my tight cross twice out of 10 shots. Oh well, it could have been worse. Then on my last shot, I was hit directly in the sore spot on my foot.

OPSC

This past weekend I attended the Ontario Parasport Summer Championships for goalball. The tournament went pretty much as planned. We figured that we would play for the bronze medal, unfortunately, I lost the game for us in overtime. I got a penalty and then I let in a penalty shot...which shouldn't have happened because, the person throwing the penalty shot, threw the ball right into the three hole. I was shifting towards where the person was throwing from so when I went to move back towards the three, my feet slid out from under me and I tipped the ball right into the net. Needless to say, we got fourth, not third.
